As Marvin and Susie were assembling a suspect list, elsewhere in the ocean, Hawkeye was preparing for a dive. After placing her in her dive suit, being careful of her tail, her owner carefully lowered the specially-made helmet over her head. This was the most exciting part for her, and as she looked out of the fishbowl-shaped glass, she imagined chasing all of the large sea creatures she had observed so far on her dives. The best part was how quickly they darted away from her, much faster than anything on land. The pleasure of finding a large warren of lethargic baby rabbits cannot compare to the thrill of being surrounded by an entire school of agitated herring!
As she was lowered into the water, she noted the ocean was a bit stirred up after the recent storm. She wondered if she would see the same creatures she did the other night. She didn’t really like the sea urchin or barracuda very well. They were a bit…standoffish.
“Curious,” she thought, as her eyes adjusted to the distortion of the water, “that shipwreck below doesn’t glint anymore in the sun.”
She took several full breaths of the oxygen coming from the small tank on her back and began to descend to get a better view. She was so excited to be exploring, a meow escaped her lips. “Let’s see what’s happening down here today!” she purred.
